Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, has resigned from her position

Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, has resigned from her position, just days after Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, announced her resignation. Srivastava cited a mismatch between her personal values and the direction of the organization as the reason for her departure.
In a statement on Instagram, Srivastava expressed her gratitude for the experience but emphasized that her academic achievements were a result of her hard work alone. She also mentioned her commitment to advocacy for education and acceptance, which she will continue through her work with the Lotus Petal and Bridge of Books foundations.
The Miss Universe and Miss USA organizations responded by respecting Srivastava's decision and prioritizing the well-being of titleholders. They also announced that a successor would be named soon.
Srivastava's resignation follows that of Noelia Voigt, who stepped down as Miss USA on Monday, citing mental health reasons. Voigt's statement sparked speculation among fans, who interpreted her words as a hint at a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that silenced her. The first letter of each sentence in her post spelled out "I am silenced."
The Miss USA Organization supported Voigt's decision and emphasized the importance of prioritizing her well-being. They also announced plans to review the transition of responsibilities to a successor and name a new Miss USA soon.
The resignations, along with the departure of social media director Claudia Michelle, have raised concerns about the culture of beauty pageants and the need for change. Michelle was more explicit about her reasons for leaving, disavowing "workplace toxicity and bullying of any kind."
Fellow Miss USA contestants showed support for Voigt, asking the organization to release her from her NDA clause so that she could freely share her experiences.
These developments have sparked a wider conversation about the pageant industry and its treatment of titleholders. As the search for new representatives begins, fans and critics alike are calling for a more supportive and inclusive environment for those involved.
