Pete Buttigieg, the current Secretary of Transportation and former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has been a trailblazer in American politics. Born on January 19, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana, Buttigieg graduated from Harvard University in 2004 and later became a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. After working for the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in Chicago, he served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 2009 to 2017.

As Mayor of South Bend, Buttigieg led efforts to revitalize the city, tackling issues such as urban decay and economic development. During his first term, he implemented an ambitious program to demolish or repair over 1,000 abandoned houses in South Bend, transforming the city's landscape and improving the quality of life for residents.
