Swiss startup Terra Quantum has launched an open-source post-quantum cryptography library

 

Swiss startup Terra Quantum has launched an open-source post-quantum cryptography library, TQ42 Cryptography, to help developers and businesses protect data from current and future cybersecurity threats. The library provides quantum-resistant algorithms and security and key management functions, available on GitHub.
Terra Quantum's library focuses on securing stored data, complementing their patented Quantum Key Distribution protocols for securing data in motion. This is crucial as future quantum computers will likely break current encryption methods like RSA and ECC. The new library offers a user-friendly API, scalable architecture, and essential security features like key generation and file deletion capabilities.
The need for quantum-resistant algorithms arises from the potential of quantum computers to perform calculations much faster than classical computers, using principles like superposition and entanglement. This means current encryption methods will be vulnerable to quantum attacks. To address this, Terra Quantum's algorithms are designed around mathematical problems difficult for both classical and quantum computers to solve.
Terra Quantum's Chief Product Officer, Dr. Florian Neukart, emphasized the importance of adopting appropriate cryptography solutions for maintaining security in the post-quantum era. The library provides an accessible entry point for integrating quantum-resistant security measures into applications.
Terra Quantum, founded in 2019 by quantum physicist Markus Pflitsch, offers "Quantum as a Service" solutions for secure quantum and post-quantum communications. Their business model focuses on preparing businesses and developers for the arrival of fault-tolerant quantum machines. The company also provides algorithms for hybrid-quantum optimization and hybrid-quantum neural networks, as well as access to high-performance simulated quantum processing units (QPUs).
The launch of TQ42 Cryptography library marks a significant step in the development of post-quantum cryptography solutions. As the quantum computing landscape evolves, it's essential for developers and businesses to prioritize security and prepare for the future.
