The credibility of Michael Cohen is under unceasing attack

The legal team of former President Donald Trump continued its relentless attack on the credibility of Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer, during the ongoing trial. On Friday, Trump's attorneys targeted Cohen's handling of his cell phones and his role in the 2016 presidential campaign.
Through cross-examination, Trump's team aimed to discredit Cohen's testimony by highlighting his alleged rogue behavior during the campaign. Trump's attorneys questioned Hicks, a former campaign staffer, who testified that Cohen was not privy to campaign strategy and often took unauthorized actions. Hicks sarcastically referred to Cohen as "Mr. Fix it," implying that he only fixed problems he had created himself.
Furthermore, Trump's team attempted to undermine the credibility of Douglas Daus, a digital forensics expert who analyzed Cohen's cell phones. Daus had introduced a crucial recording of Trump and Cohen from September 2016, which was found on Cohen's phone. Trump's lawyers questioned Daus about a four-day lapse in the handling of Cohen's phones, during which time they were not in the possession of the District Attorney's office. They suggested that this lapse raised questions about the integrity of the evidence obtained from the phones.
However, prosecutors pushed back against this line of attack, asking Daus if he had found any evidence of tampering or manipulation on the data he extracted from the phones. Daus testified that he had not seen any such evidence.
Trump's legal team has been consistently trying to discredit Cohen's testimony, which has been damaging to Trump's defense. Cohen has implicated Trump in the hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, which are at the center of the trial.
The attacks on Cohen's credibility are likely to continue as the trial progresses. Trump's legal team is desperate to undermine Cohen's testimony and create doubt in the minds of the jurors. However, the prosecution remains confident in the strength of their evidence and the credibility of their witnesses, including Cohen. The outcome of the trial remains uncertain, but one thing is clear - the battle between Trump's legal team and Cohen is far from over.
