Wally, the Emotional Support Alligator, Goes Missing in Georgia

Wally, the certified emotional support alligator, has gone missing in Brunswick, Georgia, while his owner, Joie Henney, was visiting the area on April 21. Wally, who has been a beloved companion to Henney since 2019, was last seen in his outdoor pen before disappearing.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed that a permitted trapper responded to a nuisance alligator call in Brunswick on April 21 and secured the creature, which was later released in a remote location. However, it is unclear if the alligator released was indeed Wally.
Henney has organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover travel, advising, and possible legal and veterinary costs to bring Wally home, which has nearly reached a third of its $30,000 goal. Wally has gained a large following on social media, with many fans showing support for his return.
Wally has been a source of comfort and support for Henney, who has undergone radiation treatments for cancer. Despite criticism from some, Henney has defended his decision to keep Wally as an emotional support animal, citing the alligator's gentle nature and loving personality.
The search for Wally continues, and fans are hoping for his safe return. The incident highlights the complexities of emotional support animals and their role in people's lives.
