NATO on Brink of Nuclear Showdown with Russia: Timeline of Threats and Chilling Nuclear War Simulator
As the world teeters on the brink of a nuclear conflict, NATO is reportedly considering moving nuclear weapons to Vladimir Putin's doorstep. The threat of nuclear war is more real than ever, and a chilling timeline of threats from the Kremlin has left the West on high alert.
Kremlin's Nuclear Threats
Since invading Ukraine two years ago, Putin has made a series of thinly veiled threats against the West. In February 2022, Putin warned that "Russia will respond immediately, and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in your entire history." In March 2022, Putin crony Dmitry Medvedev threatened that Russia would use nuclear weapons when an "act of aggression is committed against Russia and its allies."
In April 2022, Putin boasted about the new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, saying it would "force all who are trying to threaten our country in the heat of frenzied, aggressive rhetoric to think twice." And in February 2024, Putin warned that "they must understand that we also have weapons that can hit targets on their territory... All this really threatens a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization."
Nuclear War Simulator Predicts Catastrophic Consequences
A chilling nuclear war simulator has revealed the devastating consequences of a Russian nuclear strike. The four-minute animation, known as "Plan A", simulates a conflict between Russia and NATO countries, with almost 35 million people dying within hours.
The model predicts that many of those deaths would occur in the first 45 minutes of the conflict. The simulation highlights the horrific potential consequences of conflict between Russia and NATO countries, with all nations firing strikes against one another.
Russia's Nuke Development
Putin has been aggressively developing Russia's nuclear capabilities. In March 2024, he declared that weapons like nukes "exist in order to use them". The Russian leader has also talked about deploying nukes in space, saying that Russia can be "proud" of its work on a "nuclear power plant... for operation in space".
US intelligence has warned that Putin may be planning to arm his existing anti-satellite weapon with nukes and launch it into space. Last year, Putin was said to be readying a deadly 20,000mph "meteorite" hypersonic missile for combat.
