The devastating fire that engulfed Copenhagen's historic former stock exchange building, Børsen, has left Denmark reeling, drawing parallels with the Notre-Dame cathedral fire in France. The fire, which broke out early on Tuesday morning, quickly consumed large parts of the 400-year-old structure, including its distinctive dragon-adorned spire.
Brian Mikkelsen, head of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, expressed determination to rebuild Børsen, likening the effort to Notre-Dame's swift restoration following its 2019 fire. Mikkelsen, who witnessed the blaze firsthand, recounted the harrowing experience of rescuing centuries-old artworks from the burning building alongside emergency workers.
