Longest non-stop regular commercial flight to originate in China

China Southern Airlines is set to launch a historic direct passenger flight from Shenzhen to Mexico City, marking the longest non-stop regular commercial flight to originate in China. The flight will cover an impressive distance of approximately 14,147 kilometers (8,790 miles) in each direction, with a flight time of 16 hours from Shenzhen to Mexico City and 21 hours and 20 minutes from Mexico City to Shenzhen, including a brief refueling stopover at Tijuana.
This new route is a significant milestone for China Southern Airlines, which has been expanding its international network since China reopened its borders to travelers in 2023. The airline previously operated flights from Guangzhou to Mexico City with a layover in Vancouver, but this new direct flight from Shenzhen marks a major enhancement to its services.
The Shenzhen-Mexico City flight will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with the inaugural flight departing on May 11. The return flight from Mexico City will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting from May 12. The roundtrip journey will be serviced by state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable and efficient travel experience.
This new route is not only a significant achievement for China Southern Airlines but also a testament to the growing demand for international air travel. The flight will provide a convenient and direct link between the megacity of Shenzhen and Mexico City, facilitating business, tourism, and cultural exchange between China and Mexico.
The Shenzhen-Mexico City flight will also rank among the world's longest flights, overtaking China Southern Airlines' Guangzhou-New York flight, which covers a distance of 12,871 kilometers. Currently, Singapore Airlines' Singapore-New York flight holds the top spot as the world's longest non-stop flight, covering a distance of 15,332 kilometers.
The launch of this new route demonstrates China Southern Airlines' commitment to expanding its international network and providing customers with more options and flexibility. As the airline continues to grow and develop its services, it is likely to play an increasingly important role in connecting China with the rest of the world.
