Professor John Day

The book "Canaanite Gods and Goddesses" was written by John Day, a scholar of ancient Near Eastern religions and Professor Emeritus of Old Testament Studies at the University of Oxford.

John Day's book provides an overview of the pantheon of gods and goddesses worshipped by the ancient Canaanites, who inhabited the region corresponding to modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and parts of Jordan and Syria. The book explores the religious beliefs, rituals, and mythologies associated with the Canaanite deities and their significance within the broader context of ancient Near Eastern religion and culture.

Interestingly Elyon the head of the Canaanite pantheon of God's features prominently in the Hebrew Bible and in English Elyon is translated as Most High and Melchizedek in Genesis 14 say that Elyon is the possessor of heaven and earth. Elyon and His consort or wife has 70 sons and daughter Gods among whom is Jehovah God of the Jews. It is shocking how many Christians is not aware of these facts. And yet it is in the Bible.
