Three hundred bodies in mass grave

A mass grave containing nearly 300 bodies has been uncovered at the Nasser hospital in southern Gaza by Gaza Civil Defense workers. This discovery follows the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area on April 7.

Colonel Yamen Abu Suleiman, Director of Civil Defense in Khan Younis, confirmed to CNN on Monday that 283 bodies of martyrs have been recovered from the mass grave in the courtyard of the Nasser Medical Complex since the Israeli army's withdrawal.

The city of Khan Younis has suffered extensive damage due to a prolonged Israeli offensive.

Suleiman mentioned that some of the bodies showed signs of being tied up, raising concerns of possible field executions. However, the exact causes of death and whether they were buried alive or executed remain unclear, as many of the bodies are decomposed.

CNN has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for comment and clarification regarding the discovery of the mass grave.

A grieving man present at the scene expressed his anguish, stating that he has yet to locate the body of his 21-year-old son, who was killed in January. Despite their efforts to find him, they have been unable to locate his remains and are hoping to provide him with a proper burial.
