Titanic 2 may soon sail the seven oceans

Australian billionaire Clive Palmer is reviving his decade-long dream of building Titanic II, a replica of the ill-fated ship that sank in 1912. Despite the original's tragic fate, Palmer remains undeterred and is determined to bring his vision to life.
Palmer first announced his plans for Titanic II in 2012, but the project was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the pandemic behind us, Palmer is relaunching the project, and his company, Blue Star Line, is soliciting proposals from shipbuilders to begin construction in 2025.
The Titanic II will be a faithful replica of the original, with a length of 269 meters (833 feet) and a width of 32.2 meters (105 feet). It will have a capacity for 2,345 passengers, spread across nine decks with 835 cabins. Almost half of the cabins will be reserved for first-class passengers, while third-class passengers will have the option to dine on traditional fare like stew and mash in a communal dining room.
Palmer's vision for Titanic II goes beyond just building a replica of the original ship. He believes that the project can bring people together and promote peace. "We all know how to make war," Palmer said in a press release. "We get armies and we fund wars. People know about that. But it is a lot harder to make peace. To make peace, you have got to stick with it every day. You progress inch by inch."
"Titanic II is something that can provide peace," Palmer continued. "It can be a ship of peace between all countries of the world. Millions have dreamt of sailing on her, seeing her in port, and experiencing her unique majesty. Titanic II will be the ship where those dreams come true."
Palmer's team has released an animated video showcasing the ship's layout and design, complete with actors dressed in period costume. Passengers will be encouraged to dress in 1900s attire, but it's not mandatory.
The project has faced some criticism, with some questioning the taste and sensitivity of building a replica of a ship that sank with such a tragic loss of life. However, Palmer remains committed to his vision and believes that Titanic II can be a symbol of hope and unity.
The original Titanic has continued to fascinate people for over a century, inspiring numerous books, films, and documentaries. James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster "Titanic" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet is one of the most successful films of all time, and the wreckage of the original ship has been the subject of numerous expeditions and documentaries.
Despite the challenges and controversies, Palmer remains undeterred and is determined to bring his dream of Titanic II to life. If successful, the project will be a testament to the enduring fascination with the Titanic and its place in history.
The question remains, however, whether the world wants a Titanic II. While some may see it as a nostalgic trip back in time, others may view it as a insensitive attempt to recreate a tragedy. Only time will tell if Palmer's vision will come to fruition and if the world is ready for a new Titanic.
