E-scooters are set to make a comeback in the town center of Slough, following the termination of a previous scheme at the end of 2022.
Slough Borough Council has announced that Zipp Mobility will be reintroducing 300 e-scooters and 25 e-bikes starting from May 28.
Savio DeCruz, the council's associate director of operations, expressed anticipation for residents to have access to "more active modes of travel."
The earlier e-scooter initiative, part of a nationwide trial, concluded in November 2022 when the council couldn't renew its contract with Neuron Mobility UK, the operator.
Mr. DeCruz noted that residents had appreciated the availability of e-scooters in the prior scheme and encouraged them to utilize the new program.
He emphasized the importance of users returning e-scooters and e-bikes to designated locations and urged them to be considerate of fellow residents.
Previously, some Slough residents had voiced concerns about pavement obstructions caused by improperly parked e-scooters and reported instances of "dangerous" riding behavior.
