Trump are still ahead in the polls

In the latest CNN poll conducted by SSRS, Donald Trump maintains a lead over President Joe Biden in the 2024 matchup, even as Trump's criminal trial unfolds. The poll reveals that opinions about their respective presidencies are diverging, with a majority of Americans now viewing Trump's term as a success and Biden's tenure as a failure.Trump's support among registered voters remains steady at 49%, while Biden's stands at 43%. Looking back, 55% of Americans perceive Trump's presidency as successful, compared to 44% who consider it a failure. Conversely, 61% view Biden's presidency as a failure, while only 39% see it as successful.Republicans are more unified in their belief that Trump's presidency was successful, with 92% expressing this view, while only 73% of Democrats believe Biden's tenure has been successful. Independents also lean towards Trump, with 51% considering his presidency successful compared to 37% for Biden.The poll highlights negative perceptions of Biden's performance, with 60% disapproving of his handling of the job. Even on specific issues like healthcare and student loan debt, his approval ratings remain in negative territory. Additionally, Biden faces significant disapproval for his handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict, particularly among younger voters and Democrats.Economic concerns loom large for voters, with 65% considering the economy extremely important to their presidential vote. Biden's approval ratings for the economy and inflation remain low, with 34% and 29% respectively.Despite dissatisfaction with both candidates, a narrow majority of voters express dissatisfaction with the choices available. Among all voters, 53% have unfavorable views of Biden, while 55% have unfavorable views of Trump.The poll also indicates a lack of understanding between supporters of both candidates, with many expressing incomprehension towards the opposing side's views.Overall, the poll underscores the challenges faced by both candidates as they navigate a complex political landscape in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
