Life Achievement Award for Nicole Kidman

 Nicole Kidman has been honored with the American Film Institute's (AFI) Life Achievement Award, the highest honor in American cinema. The Australian actress, 56, is the first actor from her country to receive this prestigious award. She was presented with the award by Meryl Streep in a ceremony attended by her husband, Keith Urban, and other stars, including Reese Witherspoon and Zac Efron.

In her acceptance speech, Kidman thanked the directors she has worked with, saying, "It is a privilege to make films... and glorious to have made films and television with these storytellers who allowed me to run wild and be free and play all of these unconventional women." She also thanked her husband, Keith Urban, who spoke about how she showed him "what love in action really looks like" during his struggles with substance abuse.
Kidman's career spans over three decades, with breakthrough roles in films like "Days of Thunder" (1990) and "Moulin Rouge" (2001), for which she received her first Oscar nomination. She went on to win the Best Actress Oscar for "The Hours" (2003). Her other notable films include "Big Little Lies" (2017-2019), "The Beguiled" (2017), and "Destroyer" (2018).
The AFI Life Achievement Award is a testament to Kidman's dedication and contributions to the film industry. Previous winners include Meryl Streep, Julie Andrews, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.
Australian actors Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, and Cate Blanchett also paid tribute to Kidman in video messages, acknowledging her achievements and impact on the industry.
Kidman's acceptance speech was a heartfelt expression of gratitude to her collaborators, family, and the film industry. She said, "Thank you for making me better at my craft and giving me a place, however temporary, in this world." Her husband, Keith Urban, praised her love and support, saying, "Nic pushed through every negative voice... and she chose love. And here we are 18 years later."
The ceremony was a celebration of Kidman's remarkable career and her enduring impact on the film industry. Her legacy continues to inspire new generations of actors and filmmakers, cementing her place as one of the most talented and beloved actresses of our time.
