Israeli military forces have concluded a two-day operation in the Nur al-Shams refugee camp near Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank, according to statements from the military provided to CNN on Sunday.
Images from the offensive depict scenes of destruction, with concrete slabs and rubble scattered throughout the area, indicating one of the largest operations in the West Bank since October 7.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health and official news agency Wafa reported that at least 14 people, including a child, were killed during the raid, which began on Thursday.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that security forces eliminated 10 "terrorists" and apprehended "eight wanted suspects" as part of an extensive counterterrorism effort.
Escalating violence in the occupied West Bank has coincided with Israel's conflict in Gaza. On Saturday, an ambulance driver from the Palestine Red Crescent Society was fatally shot while transporting Palestinians injured in a settler attack in the West Bank.
According to Human Rights Watch, settler attacks on Palestinians reached their highest level in 2023 since the UN began recording data in 2006. The Palestinian health ministry reports that at least 483 Palestinians have been killed by settlers or Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 7.
The surge in violence perpetrated by extremist settlers has prompted increased sanctions from both the US and EU.
